The Flash season 3 finale spoilers: A recurring villain returns

When The Flash season 3 finale rolls around a little later in this spring on The CW, there’s going to be a great deal to be excited about. Specifically, one of these such things will be a chance to see a recurring villain.

Unfortunately, we don’t have too much news when it comes to who this villain or villains will be. However, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg did offering up the following on the subject to Entertainment Weekly, and that should leave you rather intrigued:

“We have a couple of recurring villains, one major recurring … It’s funny. Every year, around this time of year, I feel like there’s this speculation, no matter what show it is, that we don’t know what we’re doing — maybe we don’t — but there is a plan. There’s always a plan on every one of these shows. We set stuff up throughout the years that’s going to be paid off. Whether you enjoy it or not is something different. But we’re really excited about where we’re at, how these revelations are going to come [out] and how everything gets wrapped up by the end of the year.”

Who could this recurring villain be? One possibility you can obviously throw out there is someone like Captain Cold, given the fact that we’ve seen him on several occasions as of late. (Granted, it’s hard to keep track of Wentworth Miller’s actual status on the show — supposedly he was a regular across all CW – DC shows this year, but we still didn’t see him all that much.) Another possibility is that you look at someone like the Mirror Master from earlier this season or even Grodd, who turned up during the two-part episode. The thing with this show is that there are a wide array of different possibilities for the finale; depending on what happens, these villains could help to pave the way for the upcoming fourth season.

For the record, our sentiment is that the Big Bad for the next season is going to be the Thinker a.k.a. DeVoe, given the fact that he was referenced on this past episode in a conversation between Barry Allen and Abra Kadabra. You can read a little bit more about this character, if you haven’t heard all that much already, by heading over to the link here.
