Saturday Night Live books Harry Styles for April 15 show

Harry Styles

If you weren’t already excited enough for the return of Jimmy Fallon to Saturday Night Live, know this: He’s got some company in the form of Harry Styles.

NBC confirmed on Tuesday that Styles is going to be performing on the upcoming April 15 edition of the show, which marks the first time in which he’s been on the show as a solo act. He’s made multiple appearances before as a member of One Direction, and even made some cameos in various sketches. With Styles having some more movie credibility now, there could be even more potential to use him in some comedy. We do know that Fallon in particular is a really gracious performer, and he’s going to be willing to share the stage with a variety of other people.

The only negative reaction we could see some people having here is that Justin Timberlake isn’t appearing with Fallon, but that’s mostly because of their history. That isn’t any slight against Harry, who will be promoting some new music at the time. This announcement is clearly SNL having some faith in his new music and its ability to tear up the charts.

SNL will return on April with Louis CK as a host — some other hosts coming up this season include Chris Pine, Melissa McCarthy, and Dwayne Johnson for the upcoming finale. In general, it feels like they’ve got a really good stable of upcoming shows, and they’ll offer something for everyone. In general, we’d say that the show is on the best year-long run that they’ve been on in some time, even if there are some duds mixed in here like the Benedict Cumberbatch and Octavia Spencer episodes. Thanks to the performances of Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump and McCarthy as Sean Spicer, the series is more relevant arguably than it’s ever been.

Before you go, we recommend heading over to this link! That’s where you can hear McCarthy speaking further about landing the role of Spicer, and some of the surprises that have come along the way with it. We’ll have the first video preview for CK’s show come next week.
