Scandal 100th episode spoilers: Olivia’s alternate universe
For a little more on that, just take a look (per The Hollywood Reporter) at the official synopsis for the hour:
“With the ugly truth behind Frankie’s assassination revealed, a torn Olivia (Kerry Washington) wonders how different her life — and the country — would be if she, Mellie (Bellamy Young) and Cyrus (Jeff Perry) had never rigged Fitz’s (Tony Goldwyn) election.”
We cannot act as though this concept for the milestone hour is particularly memorable, mostly because this is rather similar to what we’ve seen from some other shows over the years. Arrow covered some similar territory recently, and while Grey’s Anatomy did not opt for it in their 100th episode, they have done a what-if episode in their own way that looked at events from an alternate-universe perspective. When you’ve got so much story to fill on a season, these stories are understandable — they’re rather fun for the cast to do, and they do serve to answer a number of questions about some of the characters to go along with it. One different decision can create a snowball effect, and this is likely something that the show is interested in displaying further with this hour in particular.
No matter what happens with Huck, we suppose that one of the good things about the Scandal 100th episode is that there will be opportunities aplenty to see Guillermo Diaz again. Maybe in this timeline life gets a little easier for him, and he won’t be in a position where his life is constantly being put at risk.
