Chicago Justice exclusive sneak peek: Peter Stone challenged by the U.S. government
In our exclusive Chicago Justice sneak peek below, Philip Winchester’s character finds himself facing a writ of replevin from the United States government over some classified information that he has. Basically, they want it back from him, and are willing to go to federal court in order to make it happen. Stone comments specifically to Valdez that he hasn’t heard the words “writ of replevin” since law school, which further accents the strangeness of the situation. He realizes in that moment how serious the government is, and how they are ready to see him “first thing in the morning” in order to ensure that he cannot use any information he has.
As for what makes Stone so intent on using said information to begin with, it has to do with the death of a former Navy SEAL, someone who was getting set to publish a book — one that could expose secrets about a classified mission. As you would imagine, the government doesn’t want any such information getting out there. Be prepared for a battle that could go tooth-and-nail between the Department of Justice and Stone, and one that could lead to Mark Jefferies getting involved as a result of his actions. He’s going to advise Peter to not use some of the evidence that he has; if he goes ahead and does so anyway, there is a good chance that it ends up costing him his job. That’s something Stone will be aware of even before he makes any move one way or the other.
It goes almost without saying after explaining all this that Stone will have his back up against the wall in Sunday’s episode; yet, there’s a reason why he’s so good at his job — he’s determined, highly intelligent, and he’s shown a capacity to use anything at his disposal in order to ensure that justice is achieved. We anticipate nothing less here.
