The Blacklist season 4 spoilers: Megan Boone on Dembe – Red surprise
At the end of this past episode, we learned that seemingly, Dembe is responsible for poisoning Red. The reasoning for that is unclear, though there is certainly a case to be made of getting him before Red turns around and does to him what he did already to Mr. Kaplan. Nobody could be all that shocked if there was some potential paranoia here; just remember that we saw James Spader’s character become increasingly unhinged over time as he struggled with the aftermath of what happened with Mr. Kaplan, coupled with someone trying to undermine and destroy your organization from within. This is a man who’s very much used to having all of the answers; as a result of that, it’s incredibly difficult to figure out what someone is going to do when they don’t really have any answers at all.
In speaking per TV Guide on the subject of what could be coming up next, here is what Megan Boone had to say about what Liz’s own reaction to all of this is going to be — given that she’s built a relationship with these two, it’s going to be rather hard for her to reconcile what happened:
“She’s a little bit more curious to know why Dembe would do something like this, and trying to understand Dembe’s point of view and if he’s dangerous or not … She doesn’t want to lose Red by any means, but she also has the same affinity for Dembe.”
Ultimately, it feels like if Dembe did it, he must have had a further reason beyond what we know. Personally, we’re not altogether certain that he did do it. The Mr. Kaplan radar is still shooting off signals in our brain, and for good reason when you remember for a minute or two here precisely what sort of motive that she has to do the deed. We also haven’t seen her in several episodes, though recent reports that are out there do definitely indicate that this is something that will not be the case for too much longer.
