The Bachelor finale spoilers: Vanessa Grimaldi, Nick Viall, and … Santa Claus?

The Bachelor finale will be coming your way on ABC this Monday, and as you would expect given the course of the past few years, it’s going to be arriving in the form of a lengthy three-hour event. Over the course of this installment, what you’re going to be seeing is Nick Viall trying to determine in full whether he wants to be with Vanessa Grimaldi or Raven Gates — and to go along with that, what concerns that he has.

The Nick – Vanessa relationship is especially interesting just from the vantage point of how truly hot-and-cold it is. When things are going well between the two of them, it’s the best relationship that Nick has. However, it’s also one that is stuffed full of conflict thanks to the fact that she’s a strong woman who is not afraid to speak her mind, and challenge him when he’s doing something wrong or being petty. We had a good example of this on this past episode, where she stood firm on her love for Canada and desire to remain there. This is a huge issues that she and Nick are going to need to work out, since it doesn’t feel as though either one of them wants to be anywhere other than where they are at the moment.

Per the ABC synopsis (which contains some The Bachelor finale spoilers), Nick and Vanessa are going to have some opportunities here and there to talk things out. In the process, they’ll be getting a chance to visit the “North Pole” in Lapland. The moment that we heard that the show was heading to this part of Finland, we assumed that they would be going to pay the Jolly Old Elf a visit (it’s a huge tourist destination in the area):

“Nick’s final date with Vanessa starts as a hike to a special secret destination: the snow-covered cottage of Santa Claus. Santa’s workshop even has a special gift for Vanessa. But the evening portion is dominated by what compromises they will need to make on where to live and family traditions. Her lingering questions and the fact that she may not be ready to accept a proposal leave Nick with a haunting apprehension of his past. Would he be left at the altar again if he asks Vanessa to marry him?”

It would be remarkable if Vanessa didn’t accept a proposal, just because it’s something that is so rare for this show; also, that would be vintage Nick given that he’s been rejected at the last minute on this show before. It really could be third time’s the charm, however hard that may be for him to deal with.
