Scarlett Johansson SNL promo features excessive training galore

SNL Scarlett Johansson promo -

NBC released the Scarlett Johansson SNL promo this week, and let’s just say that it should get you ready for the next episode and then some. Also, we’ve got a good feeling that this may make you want to take part in some lengthy training montage.

What makes the video funny to us is that it starts off with the distinct flair of Ghost in the Shell or any of her other recent action movies. You see her training, bracing herself for whatever bit of craziness or adventure is coming up down the road. She’s intense, she’s dramatic, she’s … doing way more than she has to do in order to prepare herself for this crazy show. Eventually, the camera pans up to Pete Davidson and Aidy Bryant watching her from above, where Pete comments that no other hosts does any of this. They’re just more than happy to be entertained by watching her deal with some of it.

On a side note, it’s really nice to see Pete back in a promo so soon after he spoke out regarding his recent battle to quit drugs and get himself in better footing.

This promo sets a good tone for the remainder of Johansson’s episode, given that she is someone who is not afraid to mock herself or her movies. Also, she’s someone who knows how to be great in this environment. There aren’t many times this season where we’ve started to feel like the show really needed to have some sort of bounce-back from what happened before, but this is one of those few times. The Octavia Spencer episode just was lacking in a few departments, but the biggest one was the writing. Given just how smart and timely the show’s been for the vast majority of the season, it was quite frankly weird to see it sputtering around a little bit in that episode and relying heavily on premises that didn’t really go anywhere beyond the first joke or two. Scarlett’s got a lot of experience on the show, so here’s to hoping that this helps to correct it.
