Will Alec Baldwin stop playing Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live? End may be near
Speaking in a new interview with Extra, Baldwin made it clear that part of the issue that he has right now is that his impression, while brilliant, may be continuing along a negative tone and sentiment that has spread throughout the White House:
“His policies aside, which you can hate, I thought he would have just relaxed … The maliciousness of this White House has people worried… that’s why I’m not going to do it much longer, the impersonation, I don’t know how much more people can take it.”
While all great things must come to an end, for the time being we haven’t seen anyone tiring of Baldwin’s impression in the slightest. It remains one of the most popular parts of this season, which is in the middle of a ratings surge thanks to everything going on in the world of politics. They are looking at this show as a sort of refuge from the outside world, and some of the negative headlines that have fluttered around as a result of it. Viewers can get a point of view here that is a little more similar to their own — while there may be many conservatives out there who don’t love it, at the same time there are plenty of people with an opposite point of view.
There is a new episode of SNL coming on this weekend, one that is set to feature as a host none other than Scarlett Johansson officially entering the Five-Timers Club. It remains to be seen if Baldwin will turn up in this episode or not.
In case you missed it, this has been a rather big day for news associated with the show. After all, earlier today Pete Davidson confirmed that he had taken some time off in order to get sober and quit drugs, a subject that had become a big part of the show over the years.
