Taken episode 3 preview: The structure becomes clearer

Taken episode 3 -

What is NBC’s Taken looking to do on a weekly basis? Before the series began, we had questions aplenty surrounding how you would make the show work. Would every episode be serialized, and we’d see as a result of that an extended version of one of the Liam Neeson movies? Or, would the show change things up and give you more of a combo platter of larger stories and procedural elements? We’re starting to get the sense now that it is more of the latter going into Taken episode 3 entitled “Off Side.” There may be larger stories for Bryan, but at the same time, he is going to look to help other people who are in vast need of his help and particular set of skills.

Specifically, the promo for next week’s new episode makes it clear that when a young boy’s father is snatched away from him, Bryan will do everything that he can in order to lend a helping hand. He’ll do everything that he can, but the sticking point for him seems to be one thing and one thing only: Time. When someone has a bomb strapped to their chest, it suddenly makes it all the more challenging to be the hero.

So far, the show’s certainly been intense. Next week could be the most intense one to date in between the rescue mission and Bryan trying to keep his personal life from falling into tatters.

Beyond the promo, the synopsis below offers up a little more information regarding what lies ahead:

Synopsis – “Bryan (Clive Standen) and team search for a suspected terrorist who has been taken, leading them to uncover a deeper plot within their own government. Christina (Jennifer Beals) receives troubling news and turns to Harry (Dominic Fumusa) for support. Asha (Brooklyn Sudano) expresses her concern over Bryan’s fixation with Mejia (Romano Ozari).”

The next bit of drama that we’re excited to see for Taken comes tomorrow, when NBC reveals their full ratings for the Monday night lineup tomorrow. The show got off to a fairly good start, but the struggle now comes via retention. In this age of hyper-competition, it’s so much harder to get viewers to commit than ever before with everything going on.
