24: Legacy episode 7 preview: Carlos Bernard returns as Tony Almeida

Through much of 24: Legacy season 1, the show’s taking on some exciting subject matter. Yet, on next week’s new episode Carlos Bernard returns as Tony Almeida, and that may be the news that blows everything else out of the water. This is a show managing to figure out a way to bring back a classic 24 character, and give them a new life in this world. It’s not clear just how much you’re going to see of him during the show, but we know that he will be valuable nonetheless. It just brings that show that extra spark, and gives everyone the chance to speak a little bit further about someone they have fond memories for … even though “fond memories” are not often something that many characters within this world experience. Do you think that Jack Bauer holds many fond memories of anything that he did?

Oh, and we should mention that there are some other things happening in the episode beyond the return of Tony, even if this is exclusively the one part of the equation we’re clearly the happiest about. For some news specifically on the subject of what’s coming up next, the synopsis below offers up a few clues:

“Carter turns to Andy for help, in order to get crucial evidence back in their possession. Meanwhile, Rebecca calls in someone from the outside when CTU’s regular interrogation techniques lead them to a dead end.”

Here’s the thing that you have to wonder after reading something like this, and it probably is something that you’re honesty meant to wonder: What does it mean when “CTU’s regular interrogation techniques” don’t get them anywhere? Does that mean we’re going to see someone come in and torture people? Is that person Tony? There are so many questions — some of them obvious, and some of them puzzling. This show stopped making a whole lot of sense a while ago, so we’ve figured more recently that the best thing that you can really do is just go with the punches and hope that it all makes a little bit more sense in time.

Given that we are past the midway point in the season now, the one thing we do know is that we only anticipate things getting more and more intense from here.
