Feud: Bette & Joan episode 2 and beyond: The 1962 Oscars, further chaos
Following tonight’s series premiere, Feud: Bette & Joan episode 2 (and the rest of the season, for that matter) will be taking you far beyond just production. It will send you down a rabbit hole of chaos, fighting, and the 1962 Oscars that was like no other. You think there was a scandal this year with the Academy Awards? You haven’t seen anything yet.
There’s only so much that we want to even say about the saga to come, mostly because that could dilute in some way the element of surprise for those who aren’t history buffs. Let’s just say that there will be allegations of cheating, betrayals, and shade before shade was even cool. Bette Davis and Joan Crawford knew how to leverage their star power, and in the process, how to weaponize the media. They could bring one another’s blood to a boil with just a matter of words.
The trailer below offers up a small tease at some events to come — it’s more of a look at the entire series as opposed to a look specifically at what is going to be coming up next week. If you are interested in further specifics on Bette & Joan episode 2 specifically, here is what we can offer. The title is “The Other Woman,” and this was both written and directed by executive producer Ryan Murphy. (If that is not a sign of him putting his all into the project, what is?) The synopsis can be found below:
“With production on Baby Jane underway, Bette and Joan form an alliance, but outside forces conspire against them.”
With this, you can clearly see that for a time, there will be an effort to try and keep the peace. It may not be permanent, but there will be moments where you think that they could actually put their differences aside. If they hated each other from the start and it never relented, we suppose that we’d be looking at a far different end product since the movie would probably never even come together. Sure, Bette and Joan needed another hit, but that may not have been enough to get them on the same page.
Before you go…
