What Supergirl season 2 recurring player could depart for new show?

Is Ian Gomez leaving Supergirl -

Is the idea of Ian Gomez leaving Supergirl really a thing … or can he really “leave” something that he was never a regular on? Both are good questions in their own right.

Here’s what we know at present. Per Deadline, the former Cougar Town star, who is currently playing Kara Danvers’ boss Snapper Carr on the CW hit, is set to be a series regular in the potential CBS comedy Living Biblically, which chronicles the life of a guy who decides to change things up and live by the teachings of the Bible. Gomez’s character would be Father Gene, a priest who helps main character Chip apply the teachings of the Bible to the modern world.

If this show is picked up, it would certainly mean that the presence of Snapper on the show in season 3 of Supergirl would be minimized severely. At most, he’d probably be able to make a couple of appearances if he is still around. It’s somewhat funny that there is such a revolving door when it comes to the position of Kara’s boss, given that Calista Flockhart already left the show as a regular after playing Cat Grant for the entirety of the first season. It’s possible that she will return eventually, but there is no set date for it just yet.

How can Supergirl prevent this change from happening again? The simple answer is to hire a series regular for the position of boss, and then not also move the show from one city to another. That’s what happened to cause them to lose Flockhart, since the first season of the show filmed for CBS in Los Angeles.

We’ll see what happens with the Snapper character moving forward this season — the one thing we do know is that there is a big episode coming that will highlight the value of journalism more than any episode has to date. That could be his real chance to shine.
