The Walking Dead season 7, episode 11 ratings fall versus Oscars

Given that it was up against the Oscars, it feels fair to say that we expected The Walking Dead season 7, episode 11 ratings to be down. The question was just by how much.

Well, we’ve now got an answer for you. This past episode, which was our personal favorite of the first three to air in the second half of the season, ended up drawing in total a 5.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This was its second-lowest rating of not just the season, but of the past several years.

Then again, it’s hard to be altogether bitter and negative about a show’s rating when it’s still better BY FAR than anything else on TV. That’s the big paradox when it comes to writing about this show in general. You can still write headlines about the ratings being down, but there are also questions when it comes to how valuable it is to continue doing so when it is still sitting atop a throne (and luckily, it is not a throne made of garbage from Jadis’ community on the show.)

The good news is that for the remainder of the season, the show’s going to have it easier when it comes to competition. There are no other major awards shows coming up, so with that in mind, the show can breathe a little bit easier and not worry so much about what it is facing off against there. We do anticipate the ratings rising slightly moving into the next installment, but it wouldn’t shock us if there was another season-low rating coming between now and the finale. Viewer erosion is just a natural thing these way, and we do know that there are some mixed feelings still about the way the most-recent fall season came to a close. For example, why did we need to spend so much time on the boots?
