Arrow season 5, episode 15: How could Adrian Chase be Prometheus?
Who saw this coming? It was really hard to, mostly because of the fact that he was someone it was so easy to assume was someone else in Vigilante. As it turns out, this was an intentional move on his part to trick people and throw them off the true scent. In speaking on this further to TVLine, executive producer Wendy Mericle had the following to say:
“[We set this story up] because everybody would be thinking, ‘Of course he’s going to be Vigilante.’ We thought it would be a really fun twist to… take the comic-book mythology and turn it on its head and see what kind of story we can mine from a surprise like that. It was also something different for this season. We wanted to change up how we introduced the Big Bad and when we did it.”
We know there are some people out there saying “oh, this was obvious,” but we’re starting to feel like these are people just out to congratulate themselves with a pat on the back. The reason we don’t think this was predictable was because all of the evidence pointed elsewhere. Specifically, we’re talking about it pointing more towards Vigilante. Personally, we thought it was probably going to either be someone we didn’t really know all that well, or the show was going to keep him masked until the end of the season and then reveal it to be Tommy Merlyn or someone crazy.
Now that we know who’s under the mask, we now just have to see what this story is going to mean moving forward.
