“The Vampire Diaries” is clearly showing at the moment that they like dishing out these epic teases for the upcoming March 10 series finale. They showed one last week that featured only Nina Dobrev; now, they are adding Paul Wesley to the mix.
The interesting thing about this latest one (see below) is that there is actually no new dialogue in here; everything that you hear within this video is something that you’ve heard at some point in the past via The CW. The only difference this time around is that you have Stefan in the room while she was pondering over how she is back alive.
So what does the presence of Stefan really mean? There were two theories that we should discuss.
1. Elena is somehow back in the present – The only obvious theory that we have at the moment is that Bonnie is dead. We hope that this is not the case, given that this is very depressing, and at the same time, incredibly predictable. Given that this the series finale, we like to think that the show has figured out how to be a tad more creative than this.
2. This is far in the future – Stefan is still alive, but it may not be looking so great for Bonnie in this case — maybe she’s gone of natural causes. At least in this version you can assume that she went on to live a full and happy life, or however full and happy one could be given the nature of this world. (Hopefully Bonnie either finds love again or somehow Enzo comes back — signs do point towards Michael Malarkey returning for the final episode of the series.)
No matter what era we’re talking about, it does absolutely feel like “The Vampire Diaries” is setting the stage for something epic, dramatic, and many years in the making. Fingers crossed that it lives up to these expectations.
