‘Big Little Lies’ episode 2 preview: What lies ahead for Reese Witherspoon – Shailene Woodley series

Big Little Lies -Tonight on HBO, the network is kicking off the premiere of “Big Little Lies,” a show that they’ve absolutely got some enormous expectations for — and for good reason. This is a soapy, dramatic, and entertaining drama that’s coming from the mind of David E. Kelley, and he’s assembled some outstanding talent in here. Only on HBO are you getting Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and Alexander Skarsgard all in one single place.

The episode that you got tonight existed for several different reasons, but one of the biggest ones was clearly setting up the universe, and giving us a good sense of the drama and dark underbelly that is going to be coming up. Next week, everything will start heating up even more. The details below are just a slight indication as to some of what’s coming up.

Synopsis – “Jane (Shailene Woodley) deflects Ziggy’s (Iain Armitage) questions about why they moved to Monterey. Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) gets news that her community-theater production might get derailed, and is outraged over a slight from Renata (Laura Dern). Celeste (Nicole Kidman) suggests to Perry (Alexander Skarsgård) that they see a counselor. Nathan (James Tupper) and Ed (Adam Scott) meet in hopes of smoothing out the tensions between their wives, and themselves.”

Will this show prove to be an overnight success for HBO? That’s one of the bigger questions that we have, and it certainly has some interesting competition when you think about the fact that it’s airing on Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, which throws it directly into the path of “The Walking Dead.” Next week, it’s also going to be facing off against the Academy Awards! We absolutely don’t think that this is going to be much help, either. Typically, what tends to happen with these HBO shows is that you see them build momentum piece by piece as the season goes on, to the point where you ultimately have a ton of people talking by the time the finale comes around. “Westworld” is a great example of this.
