Even though we haven’t made it to the end of “The Vampire Diaries” as a series just yet, we are still going to continue to see plenty of Damon and Stefan as we move forward into the final episodes of the series. We’re going to be seeing a quest first and foremost to save Elena’s casket well before we are ever going to see her alive — basically, we’re getting some further reminders that Cade is the sort of guy who’s out to get to the brothers and destroy them by any means necessarily, including taking someone from them that they both have loved during their lives.
For the brothers Salvatore, here’s the good news: At least they’ve finally found SOMETHING that brings them together! That’s been rather hard to come by on the show for a long time in between all of their brotherly conflicts, Damon going over to the dark side, and then the whole ripper phase that Stefan’s been going through in the wake of taking Cade’s deal.
Synopsis – “Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) must join forces against Cade (guest star Wolé Parks) in order to save Elena’s casket. Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice King) and Alaric (Matt Davis) deal with their daughters’ burgeoning magical powers.”
The promo below offers you a little more of the sense of danger and despair that these guys are in, and it’s pretty clear judging from this that there are NO plans at all to be picking up the show and reviving it down the road. It subtly references that there are only three more episodes “ever,” which we translate to mean “don’t campaign for another season later, since it’s not going to happen.” Hey, can you really be all that bitter about this? It’s hard to, mostly because of the fact that we got eight seasons. That’s so many more than you see for the majority of the shows out there.
