‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ finale: Was Boy George or Matt Iseman the winner?

Boy George -

Tonight, “The Celebrity Apprentice” is coming to an end, and there was some interesting competition between Boy George and Matt Iseman.

If you were thinking about this finale just in simple terms of the resume, we felt going into this that Matt had it in the bag. He was the person who was not only dominant in many tasks, but he was constantly praised by his other contestants for being smart, enthusiastic, and a hard worker. He was a part of the two biggest blowouts of the season in terms of the QVC task and then also the “Harry Potter” one where he really took control and created a fantastic experience.

Yet, here’s the thing about this show more than any other out there: This is not one that tends to play by the rules very much. You never know with absolutely certainty what is going to happen on a given day, and with that, there also was the reality that Boy George was a bigger star going into the season. He was an easier winner to market, though at the same time Matt already has another NBC show in “American Ninja Warrior” and it could be rather easy to keep the win in-house. It’s a similar situation than when Piers Morgan won the first season of “The Celebrity Apprentice” … not that we really wanted to conjure up his name in any capacity here.

The competition was pretty neck-and-neck tonight, and the decision came down of course to Arnold Schwarzenegger and what he wanted to do. We think that the real clincher for Matt was learning that he raised more money than Boy George, despite the fact that he entered this show with a much smaller pool of potential fundraisers. The fact that he was able to do that was the icing on the cake of everything else that he did.

Arnold’s choice – It’s Matt! We love Boy George, but this was the right choice. He was the most consistent, and as we said, the final fundraising challenge sealed it.
