Will ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ be renewed for a season 16?

Logo -Tonight on NBC, you’re going to have a chance to see the finale for “The Celebrity Apprentice” play out, and we absolutely expect that this is going to be a crazy one. Boy George and Matt Iseman are going to square off for the grand prize, the title and a whole heap of money for their respective charities.

As we’ve noted in the past, though, it is looking more and more likely that this show may be ending for good at the end of this episode. The ratings, as documented, are not great this season. While you can certainly argue the validity of many of Donald Trump’s statements, the President is right that this is not as popular as it was when he was the host by a large margin. Granted, we’d also argue that he may be a big part of that when you consider for a minute that there are many people who may not be watching out of protest. Meanwhile, there are also plenty of people out there who may have been Trump supporters and weren’t watching because of his attitude towards it.

Basically, this was a season when there were no clear winners … except for whoever wins this thing in the end.

When you think about it in comparison to some other midseason replacement shows, the ratings for “The Celebrity Apprentice” are not all that bad. However, at the same time the biggest thing going against it is that it’s SUCH a liability at this point. We firmly believe that if Trump was not President and not a lightning rod, there would be a slight chance that it’d be coming back. The same goes for if it was a huge hit generating a ton of money.

However, at this point the show’s become too big of a headache for NBC; it’s not popular enough for the network to need to bring it back, and in getting rid of it, they can officially distance themselves from all things Trump and the backlash associated with him. That’s been something they have struggled to get out from under thanks to his executive producer credit here.
