On ‘Outlander’ season 3 and readjusting the teaser timelines

Outlander -

Earlier this year, we wrote a piece about “Outlander” season 3 in which we discussed the probability of getting some sort of teaser over the course of the first two months of the year. This was an idea that was written under the house that we’d somehow get a premiere date in April.

Alas, that no longer seems to be the case. As if the comments about there being no season 3 of the show until summer were not enough for you, also consider this: It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and there is still no trailer. There’s not even a teaser. While we’d love for there to be something romantic for the Claire / Jamie fans tomorrow with it being Valentine’s Day, they are not exactly going to be spending much time together on the upcoming season in the early going. Do you really think that Starz would give away something from the print shop scene in a teaser? Doesn’t seem likely.

If you hadn’t heard, there are a couple of different reasons why “Outlander” is likely starting later this season. For one, you’ve got the premiere of “American Gods” taking over the spring premiere spot that it had previously. Even if it wasn’t there, though, consider that the show has yet to even start filming the South Africa leg of the season; the sets are being built, but it may be some time before the cast arrives.

So with this new information in mind, it’s better to kick the idea of getting a new season 3 teaser down the road a little bit. Unless Starz opts to release one early as a way to institute some sort of Droughtlander cure, the earliest feasible time we could see one is either around the finale of “Black Sails” or in concordance with the “American Gods” premiere. The latter may be more prudent if the idea is to expose a teaser to the largest amount of viewers possible. We’d be lucky to get a trailer before May if the show is going to premiere in June or July; if the show isn’t on until even later, we’ll expect to see the trailer even later (also, we expect to cry a little). There are still questions about “Power,” which also typically premieres on Starz in the summer.

One way or another, we know that the wait for season 3 will be worth it; it’s just always a difficult thing to bear when you’re going through it.
