‘Supergirl’ season 2, episode 12 preview: The tension surrounding Lena Luthor’s arrest

Luthors -Monday night’s new episode of “Supergirl” (entitled “Luthors”) is right around the corner, and we’re already starting to get a good sense of some of the issues that are going to be at play here. This feels like it’s going to be a fun hour for the show, but one that also tests a wide array of different relationships.

Before we get any further, let’s just start by questioning the validity of the premise for a second. Why would Maggie or anyone else believe that Lena Luthor, the woman responsible for ensuring her mother Lillian was behind bars, want to help Metallo break free? Why would she help Project Cadmus all of a sudden? There better be some compelling evidence, since otherwise this makes little to no sense.

The good news for Lena is that she does have some fairly capable allies on her side, especially if we’re talking about Kara. She’s Supergirl for one, but she’s also influential to those around her — and she’s definitely going to need to be. The video below features her and James Olsen getting into it over Lena’s true intentions, and this is a conflict that stems easily from James’ separate history with Lena’s brother Lex. He knows very well who this guy is and what he’s capable of, so it’s hard to be altogether surprised that he would be nervous in some way about having his sister in National City.

As for Maggie, we wonder if Kara getting involved here is in some way going to lead to issues between both women and Alex, who could suddenly be in the middle of the conflict. She recognizes better than anyone that Kara is someone who could be trusted, but Alex does also know that Kara can be at times blinded by friendship or not able to see some of the forest through the trees. She is an optimistic person, and therefore is going to want to see the best in everyone, even if that is not something that is always apparent to everyone else.

What do you think: Could Lena be guilty of something like this? Be sure to share in the comments, and head over here in the event you want some further news and updates when it comes to “Supergirl.” (Photo: The CW.)
