Grammys 2017: James Corden does ‘Sweet Caroline’ Carpool Karaoke with Neil Diamond, more

Grammys -

We know that Carpool Karaoke is one of the biggest viral sensations happening across the internet these days, and we’re also pretty darn convinced that this was one of the reasons why James Corden was hired to host the Grammys in the first place. He’s someone who knows how to convince celebrities to have a good time, and he makes someone feel comfortable even in a situation that is completely foreign to them.

Tonight, he took the show on the road — or to be more specific, to the aisles of the Grammys. In what was one of his sillier-but-more-entertaining moments of the show, James brought out the likes of many of today’s top entertainers, whether it be Keith Urban, John Legend, Faith Hill, and Jennifer Lopez, in order to do a performance of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.”

What of course sweetened the pot was getting to see none other than Diamond himself lead off the song.

Was this whole ordeal incredibly awkward? We’d say so, mostly because of the sole fact that it was clear that the vast majority of the people who were a part of this had utterly no clue of the lyrics. Still, it was a fun lighthearted moment that brought a little humor to what can otherwise be a very serious show. Many of the performances are big and broad, and we often do see a number of the speeches be either specifically motivated or generic in nature.

This is why you bring Corden onto a show like this, even if he is the first to realize that this is not really the sort of awards show where a host gets a ton of time in the spotlight.

What do you think about James’ performance with the rest of the group? Do you want to see some of these stars take part in some Carpool Karaoke in the future? Be sure to share some of your thoughts with a comment below! Meanwhile, be sure to head over here in the event you want to get some more news when it comes to the Grammys. (Photo: Grammys.)
