‘The Bachelor’: Big Jimmy Kimmel announcement coming during Monday’s show

For those of you interested in getting some sort of “historic” announcement, you’ve now got a venue.

In a post on Twitter (see below), “The Bachelor” Mike Fleiss claims that Jimmy Kimmel is going to be breaking some sort of news during the show on Monday night. It’s hard to know precisely what said news is, or even how related to the franchise it ends up being.

The thing here is that Fleiss is known for his hyperbole at times when it comes to the show; he often tweets out things that are in the same sort of voice as the show itself, which tends to hype things up even when there is no actual justification for said hype underneath the surface. For days, it sounded like he was actually going to make this announcement on Twitter before handing it off to Kimmel. (Remember, though, that there is some validity to what Fleiss says from time to time — he actually started some controversy regarding some supposed “The Apprentice” tapes featuring Donald Trump long before Tom Arnold did.)

For those wondering, it seems far too early to announce the next Bachelorette, mostly because of the fact that we’re still in the middle of this season and odds are, whoever ends up getting the part is going to end up being a part of Nick Viall’s season until pretty close to the end. There’s not really any logic in the show giving up the goods on that early, since it is something that they are more than likely going to want to save for a little bit further down the road. (Think “After the Final Rose,” where they have a tendency to announce their pick the majority of the time. Usually, we have an inkling of who the lead is going to be in advance, though we were surprised previously with Nick getting the gig over Luke Pell or Chase McNary.)
