‘Supergirl’ season 2, episode 12 photo: See Lena Luthor behind bars!

Luthors -Monday night’s new episode of “Supergirl” carries with it the title of “Luthors” for good reason — this is going to be an opportunity to see one Lena Luthor in a further state of danger than we’ve seen her since her debut on the series.

So why is she locked up behind bars? It all stems from the escape of one Metallo from prison, who in turn releases Lillian Luthor. The first question you have to wonder here is why EVERY show within the DC – CW universe has a series problem with prisoner security. The second question that you have to ponder over is if anyone has evidence of Lena being behind this at all, other than the fact that she has the last name Luthor and this is apparently somehow enough for everyone to think that she is the guilty party. Didn’t anyone realize that she is one of the reasons why her mother was locked up in the first place?

A great comparison between Lena and someone else within the universe is Harrison Wells and his various iterations. Because of what Wells, or at least Eobard Thawne controlling Wells, did over on “The Flash” in its first season, nobody wanted to trust any other iteration of the character. Harry and H.R. have turned out so far to be far more benevolent versions of the character, but it still feels like anytime that another iteration of Wells is introduced, these questions will be wondered. For Lena, she’s got an evil mother and brother. It just makes sense that you would wonder if she is operating with some sort of diabolical agenda of her own.

Maybe this episode will offer up some further insight on the subject — what we know is that Lena is a character who remains interesting to watch, and she has a friendship with Kara that is dynamic and has just the right amount of mystery. There’s a good bit worth diving into here.
