The ‘Hawaii Five-0’ / ‘MacGyver’ crossover is happening!

MacGyver -Dreams do come true!

Last month, we wrote about the possibility of there being a crossover between “MacGyver” and “Hawaii Five-0” (at that point it was more of a dream of ours then anything we knew was actually happening). We’re absolutely not trying to take credit for it happening, mostly because it was probably being planned long before we said anything at all, but we like to think that the masterminds behind the shows heard our prayers and are ready to deliver. For us, the reward is just knowing that it’s going down! Logistically, the move just made so much sense given that they’re both crime / action series, and the two series also share Peter M. Lenkov as an executive producer.

Earlier today, the news of the crossover first came out courtesy of the photo below via Lucas Till’s Twitter page, but there was more news that came out shortly after this that confirmed it further. The event will take place on the March 10 episode of “MacGyver,” when Mac will be one of many characters heading out to Hawaii for a mission.

In a statement, Lenkov had the following to say:

“This crossover has almost seemed inevitable since the day MacGyver premiered … We have always envisioned that our H50 ohana and the Phoenix team live in the same universe, and it was about time that Mac and Jack had a case in Hawaii.”

Specifically, Grace Park, Daniel Dae Kim, and Taylor Wily will be turning up in the “MacGyver” episode. The fact that these two shows pulled this off is still somewhat remarkable (even if it felt inevitable), just because “MacGyver” regularly films on the other side of the United States in Atlanta.

The shared universe – This feels fun to point out. Given that there was a crossover between “Hawaii Five-0” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” this technically means now that “MacGyver” is in the same world as “Hawaii Five-0,” all of the “NCIS” shows, and “Scorpion.” Meanwhile, “NCIS” first derived from “JAG,” so in some shape or form it’s out there in the ether, as well.
