SAG Awards 2017: Where, when to live stream red carpet pre-show

Tonight, the SAG Awards are bringing a couple of different things to the table depending on who you are. If you’re a fan of feature films, then this awards show is an opportunity to get what is a proper preview for the Oscars. Meanwhile, if you love television this is one of the last major awards shows between now and the Emmys. There’s something for everyone!

If you’re a fan of fashion, what you are going to want to do is check out the red-carpet pre-show for the awards a little bit later in the afternoon. Want to know when it begins? Think in terms of 5:30 p.m. Eastern time or 2:30 p.m. on the West Coast. As for where you can check it out, it will be streaming simultaneously on a number of different sites; for the sake of this article, we’ll direct you over to the official SAG Awards site.

We do always like to think in terms of how the climate could end up impacting the awards shows, and the good news today is that Hollywood does not have to concern itself nearly as much with this as it did around the Golden globes when there were some fears of major rainstorms. The weather right now is calling for sunny skies in the mid-seventies, which is as perfect a day as you can hope for in late January.

As for what to expect from the awards themselves, expect everything from A-list presenters to Lily Tomlin being honored for being an acting legend. There will also be a particularly powerful In Memoriam, one where many of the best of the entertainment world will be honored. It’s been a very difficult year in terms of losing legends, and we assume that this is going to be one of the big subjects touched on at the show … with politics of course being the other one in the wake of Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes speech.

If you missed it, head over here to check out our predictions coming into tonight’s show. We will have some more coverage coming up soon. (Photo: SAG Awards.)
