‘Lucifer’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Psych,’ ‘Galavant’ alum Tim Omundson to play ‘God Johnson’

Lucifer -

As if there was not enough reasons to be excited about the current second season of “Lucifer,” we now have this news to scream from the rafters: Tim Omundson is coming on board, and in a particularly ridiculous role.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the former “Galavant” and “Psych” star will be appearing in at least one episode as the wonderfully-named God Johnson, which seems on first glance like something that Shawn Spencer would’ve come up with for Burton Guster when introducing him to someone. This particular God is a psychiatric patient, someone who is absolutely convinced that he is, in fact, God. Lucifer is understandably skeptical, but soon comes to realize that somehow, this guy does know a whole lot more about the world than he really should. This could make our title character start to question everything, and there’s always something fun about watching this character, who is typically so up-to-speed on matters of the world, be perplexed.

Could God Johnson actually by the God? We’re not ruling anything out, but if you were to cast God with Omundson, it’s hard to be all that upset about the idea. This wouldn’t even be the first time that he played a part with strong Biblical undertones. Just remember for a moment his extremely memorable turn as Cain on “Supernatural.”

As we referenced earlier, this is a great time to be a “Lucifer” fan, even if you are only facing two more episodes before the show takes a break for the next two months. These stories are going to offer up a chance to get us to learn more about the relationship between Lucifer and Chloe, which is certainly evolving into something far more than it was in the first part of the series. Beyond that, Charlotte’s going to do everything that she can in order to leverage what she knows about Chloe for her own personal gain.
