‘Criminal Minds’ season 12 spoilers: AJ Cook teases tough road ahead for JJ

Very little within the world of “Criminal Minds” ever comes easy, and for the character of JJ, that is probably true more than almost anyone else. Think about what she’s been through and how she’s been tormented.

For a brief period of time, things do get better for the character; unfortunately, there is still some danger coming up on the other side. Specifically, AJ Cook told TVLine recently that there is one storyline coming up for her character hat may make some fans rather nervous:

“All of the ‘drama’ that’s happened this year has opened the door to write some interesting storylines, so we’re going with it — and we’re going to shock a lot of people …. We’ve got some very personal stuff happening to some very loved characters, so there will be mayhem within the fandom. But don’t worry, stick with us … [As for JJ in particular], something happens that really rocks her, indirectly. She has a hard time handling what happens.”

As for some of the other personal stuff, we’ve already seen Rossi have to deal with the return of Tommy Yates before killing him in “Profiling 202,” while Spencer Reid has a key story coming up with the return of Jane Lynch as his mother Diana — and then there’s also the episode “Spencer” that is producing mass amounts of anxiety in the minds of so many people already. Personally, we don’t think there’s much to worry about in terms of him or any other cast members leaving the show anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean that you should keep all of your worries at bay for some of these characters. There are still plenty of ways that you can see them go through hell and still stick around with the team.

Ultimately, the main thing to remember here is that “Criminal Minds” is not a cakewalk sort of show — things are difficult for many characters much of the time, and there is no sign of that changing in the near future. The best thing that you can hope for is a happy ending at the end of one episode before more drama comes around in the next.
