‘Supergirl’ – ‘The Flash’ musical crossover lands air date; Melissa Benoist, Grant Gustin, more will sing

Supergirl -The moment that it was first announced that there would be a musical crossover between “Supergirl” and “The Flash,” it was easy to have a reaction that was akin to eyes popping out of your head. After all, it was fairly hard to comprehend a way in which that this would actually work, even if these shows do have a number of people on them who we know to have musical talents.

Even with that uncertainty in mind, it was still pretty easy to be excited about. After all, aren’t all of these superhero crossovers awesome? We now also have official dates as to when these episodes are going to air — Monday, March 20 and then Tuesday, March 21. These episodes will feature an appearance by the Music Meister as a villain, which mostly makes sense because his power has to do with using song in order to get his way.

The CW also announced today some of the people who will be performing songs during the episode — starting of course with Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist. You knew that the two could sing because of “Glee,” so of course it make some sense that the two parties would be doing so here. Meanwhile, they’ll be joined by such other musically-inclined people as Jeremy Jordan of “Supergirl,” Jesse L. Martin of “The Flash,” and Victor Garber of “Legends of Tomorrow.” (We’re not entirely sure how he is turning up given his various travels through time, but we figure that someone within the show’s producers will have figured out a way to make this happen.)

Meanwhile, we also know that John Barrowman (who is mostly on “Legends of Tomorrow” these days, but is a regular across the entire superhero universe) is also going to be contributing in some shape or form … which is awesome given that he’s sold more records as a solo artist than anyone else we’ve mentioned. Together, all of these people are probably going to make this into something incredibly fun. We’re excited to see what happens!
