Watch ‘This Is Us’ cast (adorably) react to two-season renewal
While we often get the news about shows being renewed for additional seasons, there’s one thing that we very rarely ever get the chance to see: The cast reacting to the news in real-time. Luckily, “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman recently gave us that very opportunity in a new post on Twitter.
If you look below, you can see NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke inform the cast (prior to their appearance at the TCA Winter Press Tour) that she is going to go on stage and announce that the show is being renewed for 36 more episodes, which will be split up into two more seasons. Watching the cast be overjoyed at the news is almost as heartwarming as watching an episode of the show that they’re on. You can clearly see that these are people who love the job that they have, and for good reason given that this is one of the best shows on TV right now, let alone of the best new shows.
One of the reasons why the renewal is so significant — and worthy of this particular reaction — is simply because this sort of renewal is so unusual for a first-year show. Typically, the only shows that get picked up for multiple years are ones that have been for at least a year like “The Big Bang Theory” or “Outlander.”
The new season of “This Is Us” will likely premiere in the fall — as for what’s going to be coming up, that remains to be seen! What we know is that this is a show that shines in giving you a lot of different things. At various times, it’s funny and heartwarming; meanwhile, at others it is devastating. One of its biggest appeals comes via its relatability. You can see yourself and people you know through these characters, and as a result of all of that, it is easy to gravitate towards many of them and root for them to have everything they want in life.
