Ratings: ‘Blindspot,’ Fox’s ‘Star’ falls as ‘Criminal Minds,’ ‘Chicago PD’ show slight improvement
Sometimes, there are nights where you see some dramatic swings in the ratings, and then there are others where you tend to see things hover reasonably steady. We would say that, for the most part, the results from Wednesday night’s lineup are more of the latter.
NBC – Probably the worst news of the night comes courtesy of “Blindspot,” as its renewal hopes took a hit in the form of the show falling to a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is the show’s lowest rating to date, and in general season 2 is down right now 35% versus season 1. We know that the new timeslot has something to do with that, but when you look at the other competition Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern right now, there’s nothing in the field that looks on the surface to be some sort of enormous threat.
Meanwhile, “Law & Order: SVU” (1.4) remained reasonably steady with its most-recent airing, while “Chicago PD” (1.5) increased slightly, though not in a way in which you’d notice if you were to round the ratings off to the tenth as we tend to do here at the site.
CBS – While “Undercover Boss” (0.9) fell, “Criminal Minds” (1.4) had an incremental gain versus the previous episode. Meanwhile, “Code Black” (0.9) slipped slightly from its own most-recent episode.
Fox – “Lethal Weapon” (1.4) is still doing better than the majority of the other shows on the network, and we have zero doubt as to whether or not it is going to be coming back for another batch of episodes in the future. Now that we’ve said that, its falling ratings as of late make it clear that “Empire” was an asset for it.
Meanwhile, “Star” (1.4) continues to see its own star slide, and this was the lowest rating we’ve seen for the show to date.
ABC – In what should be no surprise to anyone, “The Goldbergs” (1.9), “Speechless” (1.7), “Modern Family” (2.3) and “black-ish” (1.7) remain steady as a rock.
