TV Quick Hits: ‘The Affair’ renewed; ‘Bates Motel’ promo; ‘Billions’ season 2 photo

In kicking off this edition of TV Quick Hits, it looks as though Showtime’s love affair with “The Affair” is only going to continue.

Leading up to the season finale airing a little bit later in the month, the network has officially confirmed that there will be a fourth season coming in the future. While the drama does not necessarily draw a considerable amount of press or attention, it does remain a critical darling and still has multiple Golden Globe wins on its resume.

This news on the same day as Showtime’s TCA Winter Press Tour event, one in which they confirmed that “Twin Peaks” will be premiering this coming May.

“Bates Motel” season 5 tease – If you want to be freaked out on some sort of extreme level before returning to White Pine Bay on February 20, the video below should serve as the perfect resource for you. It’s creepy, atmospheric, and a perfect companion to what is probably going to be the creepiest season of the show to date. Given what’s happened with Norma Bates at this point, it’s fairly difficult to argue anything otherwise.

“Billions” season 2 photo – The image above is your first look at the show’s return to Showtime, which features Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Malin Akerman, and so many others. One of the interesting facets of what’s coming at this point is probably just how much more unhinged everyone is. For some evidence of that, all you have to do is look where everyone is at present, the state of Rhodes’ personal life, and also how narrowly Bobby Axelrod has avoided going to prison to date. If you enjoyed the cat-and-mouse of the show the first time around, it feels fairly easy to be sure that you are going to enjoy what the show brings to the table now.
