‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 4, episode 2 preview: Mack is all of us

Tuesday night marks the first episode of “Agents of SHIELD” since last month, and judging from the latest sneak peek that we have for you below, one thing feels abundantly clear almost right away: Mack is the person on the team with the most sense.

Jeffrey Mace rounds up the team for an impromptu meeting in this scene, and within this, he makes one thing very clear: They need to do everything that they can in order to properly dispose of the Darkhold. While there are some uses for it in the event that it falls into the right hands, understandably the decision is made that this thing is far too dangerous. If the wrong person does get a hold of it, the sentiment right away is that the consequences can be quite severe.

At the moment, there is one “wrong person” — or, wrong robot — who has had the machine fallen into their hands in Aida. This is why it is recommended that the LMD’s memory be wiped clean, given that with this sort of power and knowledge, she could be the team’s worst nightmare. This is also where Mack hilariously makes it clear that in just about every movie of the past 30 years, the robots have always started an uprising. Hooray for “Age of Ultron” meta-jokes!

By the end of this episode, we’re curious to see precisely what happens with Aida, and at the same time, also whether or not the team has a plan of what to do with her. They’re going to know by the end of the hour that she is not on their side, but all of her machinations — including the LMD version of May — remain to be seen.
