‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7, episode 13 preview: Masi Oka’s Max says goodbye
On tonight’s new episode of “Hawaii Five-0,” there was some rather great news in the form of Chin making it out of the hostage situation alive. It’s with that in mind that it may be somewhat of a bummer to see that next week, we are going to be losing a major cast member. Masi Oka’s character of Max will be leaving the show next week in “Ua ho’i ka ‘ōpua i Awalua” (“The Clouds Always Return to Alawua”), and we imagine that this one is going to be emotional. Max has been a critical part of the show for many years, and while we never saw him outside of the lab nearly as much as we would have liked, at the same exact time we’re going to miss him.
In case you’re wondering why Oka is departing, he said last year that much of it has to do with his own travel commitments. He does the majority of his work in either Los Angeles or Japan, and with that, having to stop over in Hawaii routinely to work on the show proved to be rather exhausting. We get that, and we’re certainly going to be grateful that we had him for as long as we did on the show.
As you wait the character’s departure, we’ve got confirmation for you below that this episode is also going to still contain a murder case. Not only that, but we’re going to be getting the return of one familiar face to go along with it.
Synopsis – “As Max prepares to say goodbye to his Five-0 ohana, they must investigate a murder during a police convention on the Island, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, Jan. 13 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Jimmy Buffett returns as Frank Bama.”
Here’s one other bit of irony when it comes to this episode: Buffett was also in the news last year, but for comments that the show could be ending in the near future that turned out to be false. Who knew an episode in January would be so eventful?
