Donald Trump boasts about ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ ratings drop with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Logo -We were waiting to see when Donald Trump was going to be speaking his mind about the new season of “The Celebrity Apprentice” and that time apparently is today.

If you look below, you can see the thoughts of the President-elect on the subject of the dramatic drop that we saw for the show in the ratings earlier this week with Arnold Schwarzenegger as host — which is a show, mind you, where Trump is still an executive producer. With that in mind, wouldn’t he benefit from the show doing well? You’d think so, but instead he seems reasonably preoccupied in mocking the former California Governor and reminding everyone that he supported John Kasich and then Hillary Clinton for President.

While it’s true that the ratings for Schwarzenegger’s premiere were down significantly from the last season of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” there are two further factors to consider here. First, Trump’s season last aired two years ago, and there is a natural tendency for shows to drop year to year given that we are in an age of heavy DVR viewership and so many other options in terms of shows for people to watch. The TV landscape is rich with content right now!

Also, there were many people who claimed that they were not going to be watching this season of “Celebrity Apprentice” because of Trump. He was his own worst enemy when it comes to some viewers, and it is hard to tell just how much his involvement in the show (even as a not-so-silent EP rather than the host) ended up leaving its mark on the show.

Anyhow, Schwarzenegger did come back with a classy response, encouraging Trump to work for the people rather than focusing on the ratings of a reality show. After dealing with something like this, it was pretty clear that Arnold wasn’t going to gain anything by getting into some elaborate Twitter feud. No one every really gains from being in a Twitter feud – things don’t really need to be so public. Whatever happened to the days of just sending someone an email and dealing with it between two people instead of involving thousands of Twitter strangers?

In the end, it’ll be interesting to see precisely where all of this goes as we get a little bit further into the season.
