‘NCIS’ season 14 reaction: Did someone die in ‘Willoughby’?

NCIS -Be sure to check back later tonight, as we’re going to have our full review coming your way via Jodi Jill for Tuesday night’s new episode of “NCIS” entitled “Willoughby.”

Before that happens, though, we did want to give you a quick forum to discuss precisely what happened over the course of the episode — in particular, a tragic ending for one of the characters. (Warning: Spoilers ahead.)

It felt like we were just getting to know the character of Qasim, and we know that he meant a lot to Ellie Bishop in the short amount of time that the two characters were together. Unfortunately, tonight’s episode led to the character being shot, and based on Ducky’s update at the end of the episode that the character was effectively braindead, it means that Bishop has to say goodbye to him. This is the second terrible thing to happen to her in terms of in terms of her love life. First, she and her husband Jake divorced, and now, she has to deal with the suffering and heartache associated with this.

The moment with Bishop and Reeves at the end of the episode was touching, and given that the operation and this story is far from over, we’re probably going to see Bishop try to deal with this more in the episodes to come. Structurally, “Willoughby” continues something that has been a little bit of a trend with this show, as they have a tendency to really dive into deeper mythologies and long-term storylines within the first episode of the new year.

While you wait for our full review later, tell us what you thought about the death of Qasim and the way it happened in the comments! You can also find out when “NCIS” is returning to the air by heading over to the link here right now. (Photo: CBS.)
