‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: The Backstreet Boys, Carl Lewis, more to appear on Nick Viall’s season

Nick -We all know that Nick Viall’s first night on “The Bachelor” is coming on January 2, but for the sake of this article we want to look beyond that for a moment with one very-simple question: What happens beyond that? Is there anything in particular that would surprise viewers? That depends on your definition of a surprise, given that for the most part, what you’re going to see on the show coming up is a combination of familiar things you’ve seen with the franchise many times over and some new faces who will be popping up to take part in them.

For a little more insight — especially since we know that this sounds extremely vague — just be sure to check out the official ABC synopsis below:

“Nick’s first group date looks into his possible future as 12 fortunate women get to try different bridal themes for a wedding photo shoot. Who will click first with the potential groom? Another group date at Hollywood’s Museum of Broken Relationships affords the opportunity for six bachelorettes to each perform a humorous “breakup” with Nick in front of a live audience. Eleven women get the shock of their lives when they discover they will perform on the same stage as the world famous The Backstreet Boys and get a chance to show off their dance skills for Nick and a live concert audience. Olympians Michelle Carter, Allyson Felix and Carl Lewis offer their expertise to bachelorettes participating in a track and field face-off, with the winner receiving special alone time with Nick.”

The presence of the Backstreet Boys is going to be fun mostly because of the fact that so many women are going to be on stage with them — basically, if many of them fall within the right demo (they should) this should be a dream come true for them.

As for the track-and-field competition, our sentiment is a little more mixed. While we’re in some ways excited about what this could bring in terms of drama, at the same time we never love these dates that give an instant advantage to the women who are athletic. It’d be like giving Juan Pablo Galavis’ women an opera date with Sharleen as a part of the cast. What’s the point when you know what’s going to happen?
