‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7 spoilers: First look at Max’s farewell

Max -

If you hadn’t heard as of yet, Masi Oka is going to be saying farewell to “Hawaii Five-0” early next year, and with that, the show is writing a fond farewell to his character of Max.

Today, we’ve got a few more details about the farewell episode, which is confirmed to air on Friday, January 13 (insert all Friday the 13th jokes here), and will carry with it the title of “Ua ho’i ka ‘ōpua i Awalua,” otherwise known as “The Clouds Always Return to Alawua.” The photo above features Max at what appears to be his farewell party, as he is set to move on to some other pursuits, which include moving off to Africa.

While the official CBS synopsis didn’t reveal too much more about this story in particular, it did make it clear that this will be taking place concurrently with another super-important storyline: A murder at a police convention on the island. We can imagine that this would be the sort of case that is almost-impossible to take on, given that almost everyone surrounding it is going to feel like it is their responsibility to try to help solve it. We envision already a too-many-cooks-in-the-kitchen sort of scenario going on here. As for why we’re having this case while also saying goodbye to a beloved cast member, remember that this is the way that so many of these shows work. If everything worked out peacefully and without drama, there wouldn’t be anywhere near as much of a story to tell!

This episode is the second one to air in 2017, and it follows up what could be the attempt at saving Chin from his current fate with the cartel. It’s probably no coincidence that the photo CBS decided to release for this episode is one that does not feature Daniel Dae Kim. Gotta keep the suspense alive! Can you imagine losing two main cast members in two straight episodes? We have a feeling that would be rough…
