‘Survivor: Game Changers’ season 34 title; Tony Vlachos, Tai Trang, Cirie Fields returning

SurvivorTonight during the “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” finale, the next season of the show was of course a topic of conversation — but the Canadian broadcast of the show may have jumped the gun a little bit.

During the Global broadcast of the show (think along the lines of five or so minutes after the results were revealed), it was announced that “Survivor: Game Changers” was the season 34 title. Given that show host Jeff Probst loves it when people make “big moves,” can you really be that shocked about that name? Take that title for what you will, but rest assured that we’re going to have some further news on this season, including the twist and some cast members, coming up very soon. After all, returning players may be on the way…

Update: At around 10:50 p.m. Eastern time, Jeff finally lifted the veil officially on the next season of the show, and he also revealed some of the returning players who are going to be coming back, including the amazing Tony Vlachos, two-time winner Sandra Diaz-Twine, Tai Trang from last season, and Michaela Bradshaw from this current season. Also, we’re going to be seeing Ozzy again!

It’s fair to speculate that some of the other people featured in the preview tonight are also coming back. Why wouldn’t we want more of Malcolm after his first two seasons? While we’re a little wary on some players like Ozzy and Cirie Fields playing for a fourth time, we’ll go with it for now just to see precisely what the show is like. We do expect things to be extremely crazy and unpredictable, and for there to be another new twist or two entering the fray.

If there is anything to question, it is the title in relationship to the players. Are every one of these people true game-changers? We don’t know about that, to reference a famous “Heroes vs. Villains” phrase uttered by Sandra. Yet, we understand that you have to pick a theme sometimes, and there are always a few players here and there who find a way to sneak their way in despite you thinking there are better options out there.

Now, we just have to wait until March in order to see this season play out. Now that we know for sure that we’re going to be getting THIS great a cast, doesn’t that make the wait seem even longer?
