Is ‘Lethal Weapon’ episode 10 new tonight? First news on ‘Homebodies’

Given that tonight there is a lineup of all-new programming airing on Fox, it only makes some sense to expect that there would be a new episode of “Lethal Weapon” on the air to go along with it. Alas, that is not actually the case. For the first time this season, there will be a new episode of “Empire” coming on the air without its familiar timeslot companion to go along with it.

Instead, what is happening tonight is that “Empire” is sliding forward to the 8:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot, and instead making way for the premiere of “Star,” the much-anticipated drama that is coming up from Lee Daniels.

When “Lethal Weapon” does return to Fox, it is going to be doing so on January 4 with an episode entitled “Homebodies,” and we’ve got a little bit of news about it right now! The synopsis below makes it clear that there is going to be a partner swap at one point, just as we’re also at some point or another going to see Riggs in an interesting / surprising romantic position:

“After investigating the murder of a millennial “designer drug” dealer, Riggs and Murtaugh find themselves in a violent turf war between a new generation of drug dealers and a Koreatown gang. Meanwhile, Murtaugh finds some comfort in a temporary new partner, and Trish attempts to set up Riggs with her co-worker.”

While Fox could have very easily done the thing where they chose to put the show on hiatus for an extended period of time before coming back in the spring for another batch, we’re glad that they are not doing that. Instead, what you’re going to be getting moving into the new year are a string of consecutive new episodes airing week-to-week until we do eventually roll around to the big finale airing in March. While we’re fairly optimistic at the moment that the show will get a season 2 renewal, there’s nothing that is necessarily confirmed at the moment.
