‘The Voice’ finale: Was Sundance Head, Billy Gilman, or We McDonald season 11 winner?
Tonight, the season 11 finale of “The Voice” really have a lot going for it. There are big performances, crazy duets, and filler segments anywhere and everywhere in between. Yet, at the same time, a big part of the reason why we enjoy this show so much is because every now and then, you do get something really great.
With that, can we say that the duet between Sundance and KISS has to be one of the greatest moments in the history of finales. You had a guy basically fulfilling a longtime dream that he had with his late brother, and performing arguably two of the band’s biggest hits alongside them. While he stuck to his own style, he did really get into the rock performance of it all. We also just thought it was really cool to see that one of Sundance’s own musical idols wasn’t necessarily someone in his own genre.
As for the other performances, Kelly Clarkson did some nice things, and the group medleys were sort-of-okay. We do wish that the show would at some point considering changing things up so that there were more alumni performing than big guests, given that seeing The Weeknd perform on the third or fourth TV show in the past month didn’t do much for us, especially when it was the same song we’ve already heard.
Discussing the results – In terms of trying to identify the likely winner, going into the show we thought that it was a two-person race between Billy Gilman and Sundance Head; in particular, most of the evidence was going in the direction of Sundance, probably our favorite country artist ever on the show, and we say that as someone who doesn’t like country all that much and feel like its over-exposed. He just had so many special moments over the past few weeks, and we’re not sure anyone matches him in terms of that.
4th Place Artist – Josh Gallagher, Team Adam. No surprise there. He seems like a good guy, but it was assumed by many that he would finish here. In some ways, he was a surprise entry entering the finale.
3rd Place Artist – We McDonald. The iTunes results predicted this one. The show gave her every chance to succeed, and even put her at the end of this past show; ultimately, there were just two guys who seemed neck and neck going into this.
Runner-Up – Billy Gilman. Hey, he’ll be just fine.
Winner – Sundance Head. We understand wanting to complain about Team Blake winning a lot, and the same goes for country as usual. To us, though, this was the right champion for season 11 when looking at the work alone.
Do you think the right person won this season? Let us know in the comments!

Yep I think the right person won. Sundance was pretty dynamic from start to finish. Good luck to Billy too.
