‘Elementary’ season 5, episode 9 sneak peek: Was Shinwell framed for gang killing?

Elementary -After a brief period of time off of the air, “Elementary” is going to be coming on the air with a new episode on Sunday night, and judging from the sneak peek below, we’re going to be in for a rather complicated case.

These previews below give you a good sense of a variety of the different things that are going to be coming up, starting with the sole fact that there’s yet another dead body, and this one is a notorious gang-leader who was apparently shot in a rather gruesome manner. Holmes and Watson get the lay of the land in the two longer sneak peeks below, and try to get a sense as to the finer details of the case.

However, at the same exact time there are two questions that linger larger — much as they do with almost any other case out there: Who did this, and why? What was the motive, and is this a case that can properly be solved? It feels understandable to ponder over a number of these different questions at the moment, but without any further leads, it is difficult to get a proper answer.

Here’s the unfortunate news: The promo below makes it abundantly clear that eventually over the course of this episode, we are going to learn that Shinwell Johnson will find himself accused of the crime, and because of a corrupt agent, there may not be a whole lot that can be done in order to help him. Sherlock and Watson are going to be forced against the clock to gather clues and try to prove his innocence before he goes back into prison.

While we’ve certainly seen a wide array of these sort of cases before (it’s hardly new ground within the crime-TV genre), here’s to hoping that “Sherlock” has its own unique angle. We do know that there is a certain propensity for uniqueness already simply due to have these particular actors on board.
