Dutton Ranch season 1 episode 7 preview: Dealing with death

As we get ourselves more and more prepared to see Dutton Ranch season 1 episode 7 over on Paramount+, a few things are going to be clear.

First and foremost, we have to start with the fact that the relationship between Beth and Beulah is going to get all the more complicated. We are seeing here a battle of wits between the two where they each do seem to be learning more and more about the other’s past and what makes them tick. Obviously, Beth already felt armed with a lot of information thanks to Rip and the body that they found on their property. However, the end of episode 6 signaled further that Beulah has done a great deal of digging into the Duttons, whether it be Beth, John, or what happened with Jamie.

Based on what we are seeing at this point, it does feel like we are heading towards a potential path of mutually assured destruction, one where each side is going to fail to get more leverage on the other. We saw some of that as well with the whole Chet situation in episode 6, one where Rip may be able to show some value but at the same time, nothing that resolves underlying tension.

In the end, one of the things that we have to be most aware of at this point is that we are far closer to the end of this story than we are the beginning — at least for now. While there is likely to be many more seasons of Dutton Ranch down the line, this is a story that could at least give us some sort of end to its current chapter soon. If we are lucky, it is going to be every bit as jaw-dropping as anything that we have had a chance to see on the show so far.
