‘Sherlock’ season 4, ‘Doctor Who,’ ‘Call the Midwife’ featured in BBC Christmas trailer
While we await for Christmas Day to arrive, let’s go ahead and throw some gifts at the direction of the BBC. They were very much kind to give us the new trailer HERE, one that features an array of different shows that are coming up at some point from December 25 up to January 1.
The series here include “Sherlock,” “Doctor Who,” “Call the Midwife,” an abundance of talk series, and of course plenty of comedy. Much of this is a reflection of the holiday season in itself, a time of year that is used for fun, happiness, and the exchange of pleasantries as opposed to anything excessively dramatic or nefarious. It’s the holiday season! This is a time for peace, love, and for trying to celebrate everything that is right in the world.
Over the course of the holiday, the expectation is for many of these shows to generate rather-large ratings; it’s rather hard to envision almost anything else, given that watching television on Christmas is one of the biggest trends to come out of the United Kingdom over the past several decades. As for a show like “Sherlock” starting on New Year’s Day, that is a little more of a recent tradition where over the past several years, we’ve seen that a little more.
Perhaps the best part of watching the trailer does come with the tradition of it all, and the reminder that this will be a source of great entertainment through the holiday season. The majority of these series will have many Christmas specials beyond the ones focused on in the promo; as a matter of fact, shows like “Doctor Who” and “Call the Midwife” already are ordered for additional specials and seasons.
