‘The Fosters’ season 4 spoilers: Could a ‘Pretty Little Liars’ alum get between Callie, AJ?

Fosters -

For its latest casting, it certainly appears as though “The Fosters” is looking to keep things within the Freeform family.

According to a new report coming in from Deadline, Kara Royster of “Pretty Little Liars” fame (she plays Yvonne over on that series) will be coming aboard the series at some point in the second half of season 4 in the role of Dawn, a student who is described as being “flirtatious,” and could lead to some tension between Maia Mitchell’s Callie and Tom Williamson’s AJ. These two characters have certainly seen a wide array of obstacles over the course of their relationship already. Callie has a romantic history with Brandon that of course is a source of some conflict, while at the same exact time there was some drama near the end of season 4A over the closeness that was there between her and Aaron.

When the show does pick up on Freeform next month, we have a feeling that Callie’s romantic life is not going to be top priority. Instead, we anticipate much of the focus to be on her life-or-death situation being stuck in a car with a suspected murderer. The summer finale didn’t exactly leave many characters off on sure footing, with Jesus also in need of medical care after an incident with him and Nick, which was sparked in part by Mariana going missing due to taking Jesus’ medication and experiencing some challenging side effects.

In the end, we’ll see what happens over the remainder of season 4. What we know is that “The Fosters” is incredibly skilled when it comes to telling stories that are raw, true-to-life, and focused on the humanity of its characters. Sure, there are romances, but they feel more like a natural part of life for many young people as opposed to a necessity.
