‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 spoilers: Emilie de Ravin on Belle’s current focus
As of right now, the story of Belle of “Once Upon a Time” is clearly one that’s in a delicate place for a wide array of different reasons, beginning with the sole fact that her relationship with her child is being put through one of the biggest tests any relationship could be. How else can you explain having this said child as far away from you as humanly possible? It has to be difficult, and we assume that this is something she’s going to be struggling with.
At the same time, we do think Belle is confident she did the right thing, and she now has to figure out if there is a way this child in Gideon can ever come back and have a normal life. In discussing her complicated and potentially-broken relationship with Rumpelstiltskin in a new interview with TVLine, Emilie de Ravin does her part to try to describe the current state of things for the two, while at the same time detailing precisely how her focus on her child overshadows much of that:
“I think if everyone looks at their life, you have situations and people and events that sometime define a point where there’s no going back, where that was a turning point. Or, you look back and you think, ‘Oh, I never really knew that I could get through that, or that that could change.’ But Belle, right now, is not even actively thinking about [her] relationship. Her focus is solely on her child and therefore her own health and safety.”
We’d hope that there is further information and clarity coming in the final episodes, especially when it comes to Rumple’s role and some of the things that he’s being wrongfully accused of. This doesn’t absolve him of his guilt for other matters, but all elements must be taken into consideration at some point.
