‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2: Christina Brucato to recur as Martin Stein’s daughter

LegendsWhile there were a wide array of different storylines happening across last night’s excellent “The Flash” component of the Heroes v. Aliens crossover event, there’s one part of this we certainly don’t want you to forget about: The reveal that following Flashpoint, Martin Stein’s life is dramatically different. The whereabouts of his wife Clarissa are unclear, but he now has a daughter in Lily that previously wasn’t around.

Given the nature of time-travel, Stein obtaining some of these memories of her seems to be a little different than the standard character never realizing anything about their lives is different at all. For example, we saw during “Legends of Tomorrow” over the past few weeks Martin being rattled by some flashes here and there, but him not necessarily understanding what they are or potentially what they mean.

What we can tell you know is that the Lily character won’t be a flash in the pan. As first reported from Deadline, Christina Brucato (“Orange is the New Black”) will recur throughout the second season as the character following her official debut last night (she was spotted briefly in “Outlaw Country” via visions). Kudos to producers for keeping this casting under wraps, given that it would’ve given away a pretty key storyline. It offers up Martin a chance to explore a life he never knew existed, and it does also make us wonder whether he’ll have an even further tie to the present than he once did. It’s a chance for him to get to know someone who once wasn’t there, and while he may have these memories now, a part of him may remain aware of the fact that these were not organically-produced. You can have recollections within this world without getting to know the person.

We’ll see how the Lily character impacts the rest of the season, and if she will be turning up on the next new episode Thursday night — the formal end to the crossover event.
