Ratings: ‘This Is Us’ sets new viewer high; ‘The Flash’ crossover big; ‘Chicago Fire’ up

We had a feeling that the ratings were going to be big for the big crossover between “The Flash” and the other superhero shows on The CW last night, but after seeing the official ratings this morning, we feel that way even more so given that they’re the biggest numbers that the network’s seen so far this season.

In total, the episode “Invasion!” (which was rather awesome, by the way) drew a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which marks the highest number this season and the best since earlier this year. We imagine that this will carry over further to “Arrow” later today, especially since that is the 100th episode of the show. Also, remember that the series high for “The Flash” is the incredible 1.9 rating it got for the premiere, so it probably won’t be coming close to topping that anytime soon.

Now, let’s get to everything else on the ‘tube last night…

CBS – In further proving that it’s an impenetrable force, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” drew a 2.3 rating in the demo last night, which allowed it to be #2 on the night overall. This is the special that keeps on giving year after year! We can’t even imagine how profitable this probably is for CBS at this point. The rest of the night were repeats on the network.

NBC – The results show for “The Voice” was up slightly, as it scored a 1.9 rating. Meanwhile, “This Is Us” continues to be a ratings monster — it drew a 2.7 rating in the demo, and a season high of 10.6 million viewers. The fact that this show continues to rise at this point is fairly outstanding.

Meanwhile, “Chicago Fire” also improved, likely as a result of the lead-in, to a 1.7 rating in the demo.

ABC – “The Middle” stayed steady to a 1.6, whereas “American Housewife” declined slightly to a 1.4 rating. “Fresh Off the Boat” (1.2) and “The Real O’Neals” (1.0) also declined on the comedy front.

As for the drama side of things, “Agents of SHIELD” stayed fairly low with a 0.8 rating.

Fox – The comedy lineup of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (1.0) and “New Girl” (0.8) were both up and down; meanwhile, “Scream Queens” stayed at its series-low rating of a 0.5.

The CW – We already told you about the epic-ness of the crossover; this did help “No Tomorrow” improve to its best rating of the season in a 0.4, but that’s still a really horrible retention rate given what was coming on before it.
