‘Doctor Who’ 2016 Christmas Special: What time will it air? Also, further details
We are pretty darn confident that most people know when the “Doctor Who” Christmas Special will air, as per many of the traditions: Christmas Day! What we’re a little bit happier to report on now is the official time for when the special airs: 5:45 p.m. London time on BBC One. That means that our friends in the UK are going to have a chance to watch this either right after an early dinner, or right before a later one. It’s a little bit out of the typical primetime window, but people are available for television-watching for much of the day.
For those of you in America, we haven’t seen a confirmed time just yet — but rest assured that you will also have a chance to watch the special come December 25.
Now, let’s go ahead and present you with the official synopsis, which offers some further insight into just what you can expect:
“This Christmas sees the Doctor join forces with a masked superhero for an epic New York adventure.
“With brain-swapping aliens poised to attack, the Doctor and Nardole link up with an investigative reporter and a mysterious figure known only as The Ghost. Can the Doctor save Manhattan? And what will be revealed when we see behind the mask?”
“The Return of Doctor Mysterio” is the episode’s title, with Justin Chatwin playing the title character and the man in the mask. It’s interesting to see the show replicate New York in some way, and for the most part, we’re excited! The one thing that we are still a little bit unsure about is why in the world we are naming the character Mysterio, given that we commonly associate the name more with a “Spider-Man” villain than anyone with particularly great intentions.
