‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2 brings out aliens for crossover tease

The second season of “Legends of Tomorrow” is off this week (and understandably so — it’s Thanksgiving), so why not go ahead and try to offer up a little bit more insight into what we know is coming up when the show does return?

The video below was posted on the show’s official Twitter account, and for the most part, it simply hypes up the arrival of the Dominators, the dangerous new alien race who will be arriving on Earth simply with one simple purpose: Destroying meta-humans and repurposing them for their own use. They are so dangerous that the entire superhero family is going to reunite, with the help of Supergirl, in order to try and stop them.

This preview is shot in the style of one of those old 1950’s science-fiction films, and it is rather fun — almost so much so that it serves as a worthy distraction for what we personally feel at present is the biggest flaw of the crossover idea: We don’t know how we’re meant to be invested in the Dominators as villains. It’s a little bit different than when we’re dealing with someone with a clear name and an established backstory. We don’t know what sort of personalities these aliens have, or if they really communicate with any of the heroes at all via traditional means.

In addition to the story of the Dominators, be prepared for next week’s “Legends of Tomorrow” to also put a little bit more legwork in as we start to figure out a little bit more as to what is going on with Professor Stein, whose memories appear to be getting modified in some way.
